The Food site was one of the first BBC sites to take on the new global branding, produced by Neville Brody and his design team at Research Studios. In the initial design process we worked closely with them to ensure we produced a high quality design concept that gave the Food site an individual look, that was still consistent with other BBC sites. The mobile version of the site was also designed as part of the project.

We chose seasonal colours and images that would change through out the year, to give the site a fresh look. By striping back the design we created a clean and simple site. Using subtle interactions and font size to depict the content hierarchy, the elegant food photography becomes the main focus of the site.

I was one of the designers that worked closely with developers, editors and the producer to create the new BBC Food website. It has been extremely successful with increasing site traffic since the launch and won gold in the food & beverage category at the Lovie Awards.

The aim of the BBC Food redesign was to improve the user experience through out the site and encourage onward journeys. It is now easier for people to find their favourite recipes, dishes, chefs and BBC food programmes using navigation, promotions and search. The homepage is now more engaging with relevant up-to-date content, reflecting seasonal ingredients and recipes, along side BBC food programmes and chefs.
